How to Measure Sheer Curtains

Sheer curtains are the most beautiful soft furnishing addition you can make to your home and can instantly transform any space into an oasis. We think it's the best way to complete every room in your house.
Before you start
The biggest decision you will need to make before you start measuring is where you would like to mount your sheer curtains. There are two option, that depending on what you’re trying to achieve and your space will dictate where you measure.you
Ceiling mount - If you’re looking to create a sense of scale within a room and wanting curtains to cover wall to wall, we recommend a ceiling mount curtain. The long lines of a Ripple Fold Sheer Curtain will create the allusion of extra height within your space and provide continuity in the space. You may also have a built in bulkhead or pelmet that you want your curtain to fit in to. In these instances, you will need to ensure that you have 4in of clearance for a single curtain and 8in if you’re wanting double curtains.
Wall mount - If you’re looking to frame a window, or have ornate cornices we recommend a wall mount. This can either be fixed between the top of the window and the ceiling, or just below your cornice.
CEILING MOUNT
Create a sense of scale and wonder
1. Measure the exact width of the track.
For wall to wall measurements please take 1/2in from your measurement to allow for the track to fit (don’t worry, it won’t look too narrow).
To cover a window we recommend measuring the width of the window and adding 30%. This will allow the majority of the curtain to open off the window.
2. Measure your drop
Take the measurement from the ceiling to the floor. We recommend you take this in three places, the left, the middle and the right. Most of the time there will be variability to these measurements. If you want your curtains to finish off the floor, use the smallest measurement. If you want your curtains to finish on the floor (pooling) use the longest measurement.
WALL MOUNT
Timeless appeal with beautifully framed windows
1. Measure the exact width of the track
If possible we advise to add at least 30% to the width of your window. This will allow the majority of the curtain to open off the window.
2. Measure your drop
Start the measurement from the top of where you’d like your track and measure to the floor. You can select any position above the window to place your track, however we recommend either 6-8in above the window from, half way between the window frame and the ceiling or slightly under the ceiling cornices (you don’t want to measure hard up as you might need a little bit of wiggle room to make sure your curtain sits square to the floor)
Note: that because the way the Designer Track brackets are designed, the actual track will sit about 1in below the top of your measurement
